At the center of the enchanting rolling hills, dwelt a young shepherd. His life was mostly unadulterated, simple yet virtuous. His main role was essentially to care for his herd of rams.
Their gentle baas and the murmuring of the breezes across the single tree on the hilltop were his only co-dwellers. Day in day, looking out for his wards inculcated in him a feeling of tranquil contentment.
But, there were the occasional moments of isolation, when the shepherd boy would yearn for companionship. In one such instance from sheer tedium, the shepherd boy orchestrated a mischievous plan.
Narratives of predators preying on sheep had been heard times and again in the hamlet. So, the boy chose to leveraged this fear and played a prank on the townsfolk.
One afternoon he dashed into the village screaming “Wolf! There is a more info wolf that has taken my sheep!” The terrified villagers rushed up the hills for rescue but found no beast.

Frustrated and alone, the boy battled against the wolf but managed to protect only few of his sheep. Heartbroken, he returned to the village only to receive a reprimand on honesty and the consequences of crying wolf.
The story of this shepherd boy has been transmitted generations as a mediaeval parable for teaching the value of honesty, the implications of dishonesty and the perils of false alarms. Moreover, it stresses how trust once violated, is difficult to regain. It's a story as pertinent today as it was then.
